Slovakia U18 defeats Switzerland, but must wait for result of next game

Slovakia U18 defeated Switzerland 10-2 in another important game, but now they have to rely on the USA beating Canada in order to reach the final. Switzerland's Valentino Cioffo opened the scoring in the 6th minute, but the Slovaks replied. Less than three minutes later, Dominik Daubner tied it on the power play, and just 9 seconds later, Jakub Štefaňák gave them a lead they'd never relinquish. The Slovaks took firm control of the game with three goals in the second period, and then five more in the third. Dário Lašš, Maxim Piško, Sebastián Pavlák and Simon Semančík had 3 points each for Slovakia. Fabian Jaussi scored Switzerland's second goal in the 36th minute

COACHES´ REACTIONS

Lubomír Liska (SVK): "We were better in every aspect of the game, even though the Swiss tried hard and fought well. We believed in ourselves, scored some nice goals, and we are looking forward to the medal match. The chance for the final is still alive, but any medal will be a success."

Nicholas Streuli (SUI): “In the first period, we played well, but unfortunately we couldn't keep up with our opponents. Now, everyone is focusing on recovery and preparing for tomorrow. I hope we can improve our game, which will be crucial. We want to win again and avoid finishing last.”
