Czech U18s take home bronze after beating Slovakia in tight game

Czechia has won the bronze medal in the U18 division after a 6-4 win over rival Slovakia in an emotional game for third place. The Czechs got off to a better start, building a two-goal lead in the first period thanks to goals from Stastka and Rod. The Slovaks improved their game in the second period and managed to tie the score with a couple of goals. However, just before the second intermission, the Czechs regained the lead. In the third period, another Czech goal by Kachlik made it 4-2. The Slovaks then threw their forces into attack and again managed to erase a two-goal deficit with goals from Lass and Pisko - the second of the game for both. However, the tied score did not last even two minutes. Jedelsky returned the lead to the Czechs once again, this time definitively. Kumpan scored the last goal of the game into an empty net.

COACHES´ REACTIONS

Ľubomír Líška (SVK): "It was a really great dramatic match, it was going from one side to the other, many goals were scored. We are sorry that in the last moments the referee sent off our player for stupidity, so to speak, he should have done it both ways, which he didn't do. and that affected the end of the match. We spent a lot of energy to equalize, and we managed to do it, but we missed it by a little, literally millimeters, and we would have been happy. I really want to thank the whole team, I'm proud of the players who did their best the whole championship and really sometimes it's about luck. As for the course of the whole championships, we did our best, the implementation team and the rest of the team did an excellent job, we had excellent conditions, it's a shame that the championship wasn't a day longer that the semi-final was not played, as it was played a year ago in Liberec."

Vít Čapek (CZE): "It was a bit nervous, which was mainly caused by the importance of the match. Both teams wanted to win a bronze medal for themselves. I think that the video has nothing to do in ball hockey, and it degraded the game of both teams. It was ball hockey at a high level from both teams, and I take my hat off to the Slovaks for the way they played today."
