Eight-goal win for Canada, Kirkpatrick nets hat-trick

The Canadians were showing why they're one of the major favorites to win the gold medals from the very beginning. Less than nine minutes had passed and the score was already 4-0 in their favor. Keilan Kirkpatrick stood out among others as he netted three within six minutes! Canada kept banging on the Hungarian net, adding three more goals in the second period, thus firmly securing the victory which was further solidified shortly after the second intermission thanks to Straus' strike. Hungary claimed an honorable success when Boroznaki robbed the Canadian goalie Taraborelli of the clean sheet with less than three minutes to go, setting the final score to 8-1 for Canada.

COACHES´ REACTIONS

Gyorgy Pallag (HUN): "It was a very good game with Canada team, but our player are ice-hockey player not ball-hockey player. For the first game we have a lot of situation, but we need to be better. It was very important, that we shot the first goal, then the heart goes out and next the guys weren´t able to shoot another goal."

Tyler Anderson (CAN): "I´m happy with the win, not all the things worked as we wanted to, but it´s a good win, good start to the tournament."
