Canada beats Switzerland 4-2 to start Gameday 2

Canada started Friday's program better as Noble scored just two minutes into the game to open the scoring. Lovett then added Canada's second on a power play and when Hamelin scored another eight seconds before the first intermission, the deal seemed sealed. However, the Swiss did not give up as Riesen finished his breakaway successfully. Noble extended Canada's lead to three goals again with a minute and a half remaining in the second period, and despite a third-period goal on a beautiful shot from Jaussi, the Canadians managed to stay ahead, grabbing a 4-2 victory.

COACHES´ REACTIONS

Oliver Schawohl (SUI): "I am incredibly proud of my team and the staff. Our preparation was excellent, and we were determined to win. The Canadian players are a very strong team, but we have to stay focused on the next game against Czechia.

John Silcox (CAN): “It was a hard-fought game, Swiss played very well defensively, they were hungry on balls, they made it very frustrating for us. But the boys stuck together and we prevailed. We have a lot of work to do going forward to the game against Slovakia. We know how big is it going to be. We played good game against Swiss and we have to focus going for tonight.”
