Noble: Trophy is way better than MVP

Team Canada U18 got the job done in the final game against the USA. They started the tournament on the wrong foot losing to Czechia 6-3, but then turned things around and reached the gold-medal game. The final was their masterpiece, winning 5-1 and securing the gold medal for the first time since 2018. One of the leaders of the Canadian team was Liam Noble, who was voted MVP of the tournament.

How do you feel with the gold medal around your neck?
It’s great! The boys really pushed hard, put a lot of effort into this and got the job done.

What was the main difference from the game you lost against the USA in the group stage?
We came out stronger, had great first shift, a very good first period. We were good on the ball, our goalie was making saves ... Everything was way better than the first game in the group.

What do you think was the key factor for your team to win gold?
It was everyone pulling the rope together, everyone doing their respective jobs and just stick together and keep going not only in this game, but for the whole tournament.

When did you know you would be crowned world champions?
We tried to stay as calm as possible, but with the score like that, it was getting obvious that we were going to win. In the last minute, we got pretty hyped up on the bench. When we scored that fourth goal, we basically knew we would win.

You also won the MVP trophy. How do you feel about that?
It is great, but I couldn’t have done it without any of these guys. My linemates were really, really good for the whole tournament. Being MVP is a good feeling, but the trophy is way better.
